Priory School 'Makers' Faire
They're at it again! A day after The Priory School's science week, where the Canadian Drone Academy taught grades 5 and 6 the basics of Drone flight. The Priory school invited us again to their first ever Maker’s Faire. Similar to science week, the Canadian Drone Academy alongside other key guests were invited to host table booths showcasing their particular STEM specialities. The students weren’t the only ones thrilled to participate! Priory staff, parents and guests were eager to play with drones! Students of all ages under our wing learned drone safety and Canadian flight regulations. Once ready, students picked up micro-drone remotes and FPV goggles. Students were excited to stay afloat and perform flight maneuvers, ultimately hoping to challenge the deathly hoola hoop obstacle course in the gymnasium. "It was great to see the look on all the kids faces," says Nick Iversen, Canadian Drone Academy founder, "it's always a pleasure to work with the Priory School." The event aimed to introduce technology to the everyday curriculum, and most importantly teaching students that they too can be makers n’ movers in whatever they choose to do.
