CANADIAN R.P.A.S BASIC OPERATIONS PILOT CERTIFICATE ONLINE EXAM
This Transport Canada exam has 35 questions and you have 1.5 hours to complete this exam on the TC drone management portal.
The exam covers 8 specific sections :

- RPAS NAVIGATION
- RPAS METEOROLOGY
- RPAS FLIGHT OPERATIONS
- RPAS THEORY OF FLIGHT
- RPAS RADIO TELEPHONY

- Theory of flight RPAS fixed wing aircraft
- Theory of flight RPAS helicopters
- Theory of flight RPAS quadcopters
- RPAS battery systems and power supply units
- RPAS navigation principles and calculations
- CFS (Canada Flight Supplement) questions
- General meteorology & the Canadian Aviation Weather System
- RPAS sensors
- RPAS navigation maps (VTA and VNC)
- RPAS GPS and radio frequencies
- RPAS operational limitations
- RPAS calibration & flight operations
- RPAS human factors
You need a BASIC OPERATIONS LICENSE if
- You are 14 years old or older;
- Your drone weighs 250 g up to and including 25 kg;
- You will fly in uncontrolled airspace – i.e. no air traffic control is provided;
- You will stay under 120 meters (400 feet) above ground level;
- You will maintain a minimum of 30 meters (100 feet) horizontal distance from bystanders and will not fly over them; and
- You will always keep your drone in sight.
